What is Electroforming?

Electroforming is a slow and intricate process where copper is fused onto a base form using a low voltage charge (electrodeposition).  The charge is passed through the materials to create a relief that becomes a separate part in its own right and allows the artist to create thicker copper structures layered over other materials like glass, wax, shells, crystals, feathers etc.  Compared to other basic metal forming processes (casting, forging, stamping, deep drawing, machining and fabricating) electroforming is very effective when requirements call for extreme tolerances, complexity or light weight. Jewellery Collective is leading the handmade jewellery revolution on the Sunshine Coast with a range of silversmithing workshops to suit beginners and intermediate students.  Our 4 week 'Introduction to Jewellery Making' Course is run on a Tuesday or Thursday evening from 6-9pm and is hugely popular with full time workers and students.  We also offer 'Workshop Wednesdays' which has struck a chord with mum's and retirees that have some time during the day from 10am-1pm.
