PRIVATE TUITION (FOR INTERMEDIATE STUDENTS)
Our private tuition is a popular option for intermediate students (that have completed our Introduction to Jewellery Making Workshop or equivalent with another jewellery school or teacher) and prefer a one-on-one style of learning.
You can book a 3 or a 6 hour block of tuition. This is an excellent way to improve your soldering skills, finishing skills, gem setting or get expert help with a tricky project.
Silver & consumables are included in this workshop fee.
Some of the skills you can improve during intermediate private tuition sessions include:
- All aspects of soldering, torch control & confidence with using an Orca or Little Smith Torch
- Learning to use a rolling mill properly and effectively
- Acid Etching silver and copper
- How to melt and roll out your old gold
- Bezel or flush setting for faceted gemstones
- Setting odd shaped crystals or gemstones
- Copper Electroforming
- Sand Casting
PRIVATE TUITION (FOR BEGINNERS WITH NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE)
We now offer our popular Introduction to Jewellery Making weekend intensive workshop over one full day for students that may work on weekends, or prefer a more personal style of tuition.
This full day workshop covers everything that you need to learn to get started on your silversmithing journey including safety, soldering, metal stamping, bezel setting and polishing.
All materials, a gemstone and lunch are included in this workshop. Just bring yourself, a sketch book and a positive attitude for a fun day in the studio.
This workshop is identical to our weekend intensive version of this class, but as there is only one student (instead of 4), we are able to go above and beyond to create more pieces of jewellery, as well as explore more in-depth techniques, tips and tricks to successfully create jewellery on your own once you complete this class.
This workshop runs from 9.30am on an arranged week day. We will finish this class when all of our pieces are made, so please allow up to 7.5 hours for this workshop. Bookings must be made at least 2 weeks in advance.
WHAT METALS CAN I USE?
- Silver is available for purchase on the day (*silver is included in the Introduction to Jewellery Making workshop fee)
- Gold must be ordered from our metal merchants 2 weeks in advance (we will need to cost this out separately)
- We do not use platinum in our workshops unless we are casting jewellery
