Sat 26 May / Claw Setting Unusual Objects Workshop
In this one day Intermediate workshop taught by Sunshine Coast Jeweller Susan Ewington, we will learn to create and troubleshoot setting designs for unusually shaped found objects such as beach glass or stone.
On the day Susan will demonstrate how to make a simple chunky claw style setting for a beach glass pendant.
This will also include some discussion/demonstrations on variations for bail components and considering more unusual shaped claws and asymmetrical design principles.
This workshop places a strong focus on thinking outside the box.
Brass and copper practise metals are provided and silver can be purchased on the day if required at a cost of $3 per gram.
This workshop runs from 9.30am-2.30pm on Saturday, 26 May.
Prior jewellery making experience is required as we will be soldering, sawing, filing and using basic silversmithing skills in this workshop.
What to bring:
- Sketch book & pencil
- Beach glass, stone or other found object
- Packed lunch & waterbottle
- Positive attitude
- Please wear closed in shoes and have long hair tied back
