Combination Cast & Forged Wedding Ring Workshop
What better way to ensure your wedding or commitment rings hold special meaning than to hand craft them yourselves in a fabulous full day workshop?
This workshop is perfect for when one person needs to make a plain or hammered gold wedding band and the other needs to create a fitted wedding band to fit next to an engagement ring.
It is also a lot of fun, as you get to experiment with two different jewellery making techniques.
Once you book your workshop, we will post you an adjustable ring size gauge so you can each measure your ring finger - this will then allow us to provide you with an accurate cost estimate for the gold that you will use to make your rings.
What to expect on the day...
On the day, we will create the forged ring first, working together to roll the metal out to the correct width, thickness and length. During this process we heat the metal (anneal it) several times before we trim the metal to size, then shape it using a ring mandrel. We then check the size before we solder the ring.
You will then carve the other wedding ring from a special jewellers wax with lots of expert guidance along the way.
Once we have two rings (one in wax and one in metal) we will then spend some time filing, sanding and polishing the metal ring.
At the end of your workshop, the wax carved ring is sent to our casting house to be created in the metal of your choice. Please allow up to two weeks for this process.
After the ring is cast, your teacher will spend an hour cleaning up your casting, this includes filing, sanding and polishing your rings to perfection ready to be packaged in a complimentary double ring box ready for your special day.
This clean up process is quite slow and time consuming and we include this as part of our workshop fee, so you can enjoy the fun parts of the jewellery making process!
Once your rings are ready, you can collect them from our studio or we can send them to you via Platinum express post at no additional fee.
