Learn Silversmithing in a full day private workshop
With the recent Covid 19 crisis, all small businesses have had to rethink the way they deliver their service or product, and we are no different.
As a small, independent jewellery school, we teach small group jewellery classes on a regular basis.
Going forward, we will continue to do so when it is safe again, but for now, we have introduced an Introduction to Jewellery Making workshop over one full day for students that may prefer a one-on one class due to being in a high risk category, work on weekends, or just prefer a more personal style of tuition.
This full day workshop covers everything that you need to learn to get started on your silversmithing journey including safety, soldering, metal stamping, bezel setting and polishing.
All materials, a gemstone and lunch are included in this workshop. Just bring yourself, a sketch book and a positive attitude for a fun day in the studio.
This workshop is identical to our weekend intensive version of this class, but as there is only one student (instead of 4), we are able to go above and beyond to create more pieces of jewellery, as well as explore more in-depth techniques, tips and tricks to successfully create jewellery on your own once you complete this class.
This workshop runs from 9.30am on an arranged week day and bookings must be made at least 2 weeks in advance.
TELL ME MORE...
Our ultimate goal is to get our students to a point where they feel confident setting up their own home-based jewellery studio using the tips and techniques learned in our Introduction to Jewellery Making workshop.
Over the course of one day, you will learn about all of the fundamental aspects of silversmithing including;
- annealing & soldering
- metal stamping and texturing
- shaping metal using mandrels and hammers
- learning how to use all of the jewellers basic hand tools with confidence
- creating a cabochon setting for a gem stone
- bezel setting a gem stone with confidence
- learning about various finishing techniques such as creating a matte or high shine finish with different polishing wheels and micro motor attachments
We absolutely love sharing our knowledge with our students and over the past 3 years, have taught hundreds of students beginner and advanced silver and goldsmithing techniques. We look forward to seeing you in the studio soon!
